PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Facilities - Prices - Bookings - Summary

Facilities
:

Your basic overnight fee entitles you to use of the hostel's standard facilities.

These are:- fully equipped kitchens, common rooms, bed in a dormitory and a hot shower, toilet, telephone, etc. Most hostels also have private rooms (i.e. doubles) and family rooms. These cost a little extra. Aside from this, you will find many with extras, such as laundry, bicycle hire, breakfast etc. You will find this additional information in our hostel listings.

Prices
Some hostels may charge more for high season which is July, August, the first half of September and also Bank Holidays and Festivals. Low season refers to the rest of the year. Where this extra charge is made it will be stated in our listing. Private or family rooms cost a little more than the standard dormitory. Again, this price is listed. Prices refer to "per person, per night".

Bookings
It is always a good idea to phone ahead and make a booking in the busy periods. At this stage you should give the hostel a time of arrival. If you are not going to arrive by 6pm, or if you have changed your plans, please make sure to let the hostel know as soon as possible. This will ensure, in the first case, that your bed is kept, or in the second case, that someone else can avail of that bed.

Summary
In almost all our hostels you are required to register with the Warden on arrival and pay your night's fee. At this stage it is a good idea to have a look around and see that everything is to your satisfaction. Check each Independent Hostel for their House Rules. A spirit of co-operation prevails throughout our hostel organisation.

As an association of independent hostels we seek to maintain high standards and the uniqueness of each hostel.
