Welcome to Ireland! Treasure the Memories ......

Welcome to the original Independent Hostels, Ireland.

COVID-19 Update. For up to date information on Government recommendations concerning Covid-19 in Ireland please visit the official Government of Ireland website at www.gov.ie With current restrictions / precautions we would advise all travellers to contact hostels individually to check if they are open for guests and have availability.

We invite you to come and discover Ireland through our network of hostels, both rural and urban.
All our member hostels offer you a guarantee of good old fashioned Irish hospitality,
providing low cost accommodation in a relaxed, clean and friendly environment.

Your basic overnight fee entitles you to use the hostel’s standard facilities. These are:-
  • fully equipped kitchens,
  • common rooms,
  • bed in a dormitory
  • and a hot shower,
  • toilet,
  • telephone, etc.

Most hostels also have private rooms (ie. doubles) and family rooms. These cost a little extra. Aside from this you will find many with extras, such as laundry, bicycle hire, breakfast. You will find this additional information in our hostel listings.

Prices should be as listed for that year. Some hostels may charge more for high season which is July, August, first half of September and also Bank Holidays and Festivals. Low season refers to the rest of the year. Where this extra charge is made it will be stated in our listing. Private or family rooms cost a little more than the standard dormitory. Again this price is listed. Prices refer to “per person, per night”. Prices are accurate at time of printing but may change slightly. Always confirm price of your hostel accommodation in case of seasonal changes.

It is always a good idea to phone ahead and make a booking in the busy periods. At this stage you should give the hostel a time of arrival. If you are not going to arrive by 6pm, or if you have changed your plans, please make sure to let the hostel know as soon as possible. This will ensure, in the first case, that your bed is kept, or in the second case, that someone else can avail of that bed.

For booking ahead, please email your chosen hostel directly.

In almost all our hostels, you are required to register with Reception on arrival and pay your night’s fee. At this stage it is a good idea to have a look around and see that everything is to your satisfaction. Check each Independent Hostel for their House Rules etc. A spirit of co-operation prevails throughout our hostel organisation.

Prices may vary; confirm when booking as there can be seasonal price fluctuations which are not always reflected on the website listing.

All our hostels provide bulletin boards with maps of their region and other information on various pastime activities in their area and sites of interest etc.We listen carefully to what our visitors have to say and we actively encourage our members to develop their hostels in accordance with the requirements of our guests. Our aim is to provide our visitors with a happy, memorable holiday. You will find that each hostel has its own sense of character, particularly our rural hostels. We come in all shapes and sizes, each offering you our high standard of service. Our hostels stay open all day, don’t require membership cards, cater for all age groups and are curfew free. Most of our hostels also provide camping facilities.
